To promote all phases of guidance work in the Northern Kentucky area. To bring persons in the community engaged in or in support of guidance and counseling work together in an organization in order to provide for a common identity. To provide an opportunity for counselors, school personnel and other interested persons to share ideas, discuss problems of mutual interest, and develop a sound understanding between workers in the field.

NKCA supports and subscribes to the goals and objectives of its parent organization, the Kentucky Counseling Association (KCA), an affiliate of the American Counseling Association.
